Scope: Extract 62,000 Copper Alloy Tubes for Salvage

Northstar began extracting tubes at the Tuttle Station during July of 2015 using a Detubing System manufactured by PSR for Northstar in 2014. This particular equipment package had been used to extract 120,000 tubes from plants on the east coast prior to being shipped to Texas.

PSR's field technician provided refresher operation and maintenance training to Northstars labor crew and performed a 100,000 tube tune-up service on the equipment.

On completion of the Tutle project the equipment package, consisting of 1 ea. Cutter, Collet Puller , Extractor and Chopper will have successfully past the 200,000 tube mark which will be a first for one of our systems and a marked achievement in the tube equipment industry.

Nortstar is reportedly the largest demolition and asbestos abatement contractor in North America.

PSR manufactures state -of -the condeser tube removal tools and equipment for the Mechanical and Demoltion contracting industries.

Tooling and Services Provided: PSR provided a new DS series tube extraction systems including cutting ,pulling , chopping , and required support equipment to salvage 2 remaining condensers located at the Pepco’s Benning Road – Peaking Station . Our field technician provided 2 days of safety and tool operation training, tool and equipment maintenance training and guidance on the “art and science” of the tube removal process.

The tube recovery project began in April and was completed in May of 2014

Initial production rates, labor utilization requirements and consumable parts wear indicate the following productions rates and costs:

· 110- tubes processed per hour (1ʺOD tubes X 30ʹ long)

· .036 -man hours required to pull each tube

· $.05 -consumable parts wear cost per tube

Our tube removal technology and technical support services enable our clients to greatly reduce material extraction costs, project duration and increase the value of their scrap compared to alternate recovery methods.

Extract 72,600 SEACURE & Titanuim Tubes-FL...

In February of 2013 PSR provided two complete tube extraction systems including an array of tube cutters, collet tube pullers, extractors, tube choppers, support equipment and custom rigging systems to a major US demolition contractor to detube 4 large condensers located at the FPL- Port Everglades Plant.

The total tube count was 72,600 Our field technician provided 9 days of safety and tool operation training, tool and equipment maintenance training and guidance on the “art and science” of the tube removal process.

Each pulling line removed and chopping 4ea.-40 long foot tubes per minute utilizing 4 men. Average production rates, labor utilization requirements and consumable parts wear are as follows:

4 tubes per minute (Titanium/stainless steels tubes at 1’& 7/8”OD)
.017 man hour required to pull each tube
$.02 consumable part costs per tube

Florida Power-Progress Energy, PL Bartow Staion, FL...

February, 2011 PSR completed the detubing of 3 retired condensers located at the old 452 MW Florida Power Corp/Progress Energy PL Bartow Generating Station. ST Petersburg, FL.

Prior to demolition of the plants superstructure two seprate pulling crews/pulling lines extracted 23,500 Cupronickel tubes and 18,300 SEA-CURE high chromium stainless steel tubes over a period of 5 weeks. Removal of the front water boxes and use of gas powered man lifts to lift the men into position against the tube sheet greatly expedited pulling production of the extra long tubes.

The detubing work was part of a larger demolition project being undertaken by Frontier Industrial Corp. of Buffalo,New York. PSR jointly participated in the project by providing all necessary process tube removal tools, support equipment, tool technicians and supervision oversight to facilitate Frontier's labor crew in the extraction, chopping ,weighing and packaging of the 41,800 scrap tubes.

The Big Pull - Ameren,Venice Power Station, IL...

PSR provided technicians, an array of tube cutters, tube production pullers, tube choppers, support equipment and custom rigging systems to the Spirtas Wrecking Co. to detube 6 large condensers located at the 500 megawatt Ameren -Venice Power Station.

To separate union pulling crews were supplied with automated tooling and pulled 60,000 cupronickel tubes as well as the cut tube stubs from the backside tube sheets in approximately 40 days.

Our tube removal technology and technical support services greatly reduce material extraction costs, handling efforts and increase the value of scrap compared to alternate recovery methods. The project was completed to the satisfaction of the customers in early November 2010.
